The 7 girls had a fantastic start to this match and took an early lead in the first quarter with the score being 10 - 7 to the Butterfly's when we went into the break.
Woodley Ansons changed up a few of their positions and slowly chipped away at the Butterfly's lead to draw level with a couple of minutes left in the first half. A few mid-court errors due to the pressure from the opposition meant Woodley were able to go into the lead at half-time by 3 goals, score 18 - 15 to Woodley.
This was a great effort by the 7 girls and after a quick drink and regroup the 3rd quarter went centre for centre with both teams piling on the pressure on every pass making it difficult for both teams to deliver the ball safely to their shooters. 3rd Quarter score was 5 - 4 to Woodley extending their lead by 1 goal to 23 - 19 going into the final quarter.
Tired legs and arms from all the hardwork done in the previous quarters meant a lot of errors were made as Woodley brought on fresh legs to finish the match and pull away with a final score of 36 - 23 to them.
This was a great final performance by the Butterfly's. When we played Woodley Ansons before Christmas we lost by over 30 goals, so all their hardwork and determination is evident in how close they were in this match.
A really tough division for the girls but they all kept working each match and their scores continued to improve which is all a coach could ask for. Really really well done to all the girls who played in this league this season.
Player of the match (as voted by the opposition) Lucy Theobald.
