The Butterfly's had a great start to this match with them being all over the opposition and safely delivering the ball to the shooters in the Butterfly's attacking circle. With shots being constantly put up by the continuous feed from our mid court players the first quarter ended with the Butterfly's taking a healthy lead of 7 - 1.
The Diamonds fought back in the 2nd quarter and both teams worked hard to covert their shots into goals resulting in a very close quarter and the Butterfly's narrowly extended their lead by only 1 goal to 11 - 4 at half-time.
The 3rd quarter saw another change in our attacking side to try and extend the hardwork achieved in the 1st half of the game. The defense kept up the pressure on the opposition making it difficult for them to score and our mid court continued their safe delivery of balls into the Butterfly shooters. It was a very low scoring quarter by both teams as they struggled to convert all the opportunities they had. At the end of the 3rd quarter the Butterfly's had extended their lead by another 2 goals to go into the final quarter 15 - 6 in the lead.
The final quarter saw a change in our mid court & defense to help maximize the girls versatility. This quarter was very similar to the 2nd quarter with both teams struggling to convert all their shots into goals and the defense & mid court players working tirelessly to gain possession and deliver it back to their shooters. Only 5 goals were scored in the final 10 minutes resulting in a good win for the Butterfly's, 18 -8.
Well done to all 9 girls who played in this match and worked non-stop each quarter.
