This was always going to be a tough and close match as the last time we met this team before Christmas we only won by 1 goal with the score being 15 - 14.
The match started well with all 10 players this evening taking to court in the first 2 quarters and the Butterfly's dominated to take an early lead of 12 - 6 at the half-time break. There was great movement, team work and quick passes through this half to get the ball to our combination of shooters who shot with confidence to secure this amazing lead.
After the half-time break Finch moved around some key positions and with a few changes in the Butterfly's formation the Finch girls dominated and forced the Butterfly's into some silly errors which meant the 3rd quarter was well and truly Finch's leaving the Butterfly's with a lot of work to do in the final quarter.
All the girls dug deep to try and force the turnover and safely pass the ball to our shooters. A few nerves were showing on both teams and very nervous supporters were court side watching every pass intensely. With only a minute or so remaining the Butterfly's managed to secure the 2 turnovers their needed to draw level to the regrouped Finch team who were determined to not give up. Finally level and with less then a minute to play it was the Butterfly's center.........everyone dug deep to make sure the shooters received the ball in a good position and with a deep breathe the Butterfly's were once again in the lead. Only seconds remaining Finch released their center pass which was intercepted mid court by the Butterfly's and you could hear a sigh of relieve when the final bell was rung and the Butterfly's had managed to come back to win by 1 goal one again.
A superb effort by all 10 players against an evenly matched opposition to vary things and keep their calm to secure the win.
Well done to everyone.
