Great team by all.

Our second match of the season in the Charters league playing at the alternative venue of The Marist school and all the girls were ready for the match.
As the girls have only just gone to 7 a-side they are all just learning their positions and we started with the following combinations:
Shooters: Rosa & Maya
Mid-court: Sian, Jessica & Emma
Defence: Jenaleigh & Flo

We won the toss and elected to have first centre. From the first whistle the girls were moving on the attack and being very tight on the defense causing lots of turnovers and stopping the opposition from being able to shoot. With some lovely feeding into our circle and some nice finishing shots by our shooters we finished the first quarter, 4 - 0.
As everyone had settled in the above positions and were doing well we decided to leave them all the same for the 2nd quarter and we were ready for the next 10 minutes. Again our shooters worked hard and was successful at scoring every time the ball was in our circle. The mid-court players worked constantly putting the pressure on from each centre pass and the defense were great only allowing the opposition to score twice, the score at half-time was 8 - 2 to the Firefly's.
In the third quarter we swapped the defense around to give players a bit of a run around and all the players kept the hard work going to lead 13 - 4 by the end of the quarter.
The final quarter tiredness was starting to show a little with the choice of passes we were using but all players dug deep and kept the pressure on to mean we won this final quarter also 6 - 2 to give a final score of 19 - 6 to the Firefly's.
The girls were all great in their own disciplines and worked well as a team to support each other and pass the ball down the court on each turnover to result in a goal for the team.
This was a great performance by them all with some lovely movement of the ball through the court and all their hard work at training was showing during the match. All the circle workers moved brilliantly to either score a goal or defend and turnover the ball with the mid-court players supporting and playing a valuable roll in bringing the ball down to our attackers.

A really good effort from all on a cold and miserable evening, well done to everyone.

Player of match (voted by opposition): Rosa Spencer
