What a come back!!!!!

Only 7 players for the squad this morning, so it was always going to be a tough match with no subs available.

The first quarter started well with it going goal for goal, then with the wind picking up and a few shots missed before we knew it B's were ahead by 5 goals with the score 9 - 4 to them at the end of the first quarter.
No changes made in positions, quick drink of water by all and the 2nd quarter started. We were quite slow in this quarter, probably over thinking the mountain to climb but managed to keep the B's within site and only let the lead extend by 2 with the score at half-time being 16 - 9 to B's.

After a quick team talk at half-time the girls were on fire in the 3rd quarter and with some impressive team work started chipping away at the B's lead.
Emma, Elizabeth and Amy worked non-stop in defense piling on the pressure, which meant the flawless shooting from the B's in the first half of the game suddenly wasn't there. Lots of rebounds were successfully retrieved by our defenders and with the help of Tayler, (centre) were moved skillfully down the court to our shooters, Abi & Caitlin, who couldn't stop scoring in the 3rd quarter. We won the 3rd quarter 11 - 4 to take the score level going into the final quarter, 20 all.

The final quarter started slow again with B's scoring the first 3 goals, all the Dragonflys dug deep at this point realizing we were letting all the hard work slip away, and up 'ed their play for the last 10 minutes.
Katie & Caitlin driving out to receive our centre passes and make sure we scored off them. Elizabeth & Amy driving out and intercepting on the B's centre passes, then delivery a safe ball down to our shooters. Before we knew it we had taken the lead and it was dragonfly's centre pass.
After successfully scoring on our centre to have a 2 goal lead it was nervous times as the B's came back at our defense to try and level the score. Lots of red faces on court from all the girls as they dug deep to try and maintain this lead for the last couple of minutes.

As the final whistle was blown it was sheer delight to see how all their hard work had paid off to come back from a 7 goal deficit to win, shocked but happy faces all around as they realized they had actually won.

Well done to everyone today for their determination and fight to never stop. A special mention to Tayler for playing on her birthday and well done to the team for making it special by winning....Happy Birthday Tayler.

Player of match (voted by opposition): Abigail Balcombe
